It's finally time for the tournament we all have been waiting for — IEM Katowice 2021!
The ESL Pro Tour 2020 culminates in this meeting of the 24 top players from all around the world. During the last year, these players accumulated points from various Global and Regional spots. Now it's time to put it all to the test as they battle for the title of an IEM Champion with a prize pool of $250,000 USD.
The winner of IEM Katowice will also be crowned the 2020 World Champion. The StarCraft 2 World Championship Series (WCS) previously ended in the Global Finals at BlizzCon. Now with the introduction of a new system organized by ESL the SC2 year ends in the Masters Championship 2021 at Katowice.
Group Stage
- Four groups of six players played out in Round-Robin format.
- All matches are Bo3.
- First place in each group advances directly to the Quarterfinals.
- Second and third place in each group advance to the Round of 12.
- Ties are broken in the following order:
1. Overall map difference
2. Overall number of map wins
3. Match wins amassed between the tied participants ('Mini-League')
4. Map difference between the tied participants ('Mini-League')
5. Number of map wins between the tied participants ('Mini-League')
6. Tiebreaker matches
7. Coin toss
Playoffs
- Single-elimination bracket:
- Round of 12, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals matches are Bo5.
- Finals are Bo7.
